Chicago, IL – Completed 2023

The renovation of the National Association of Realtors building at 430 N. Michigan Avenue brought a sleek, modern presence to Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. Designed by Lamar Johnson Collaborative, the project features a dramatic 25-foot-tall curved glass façade and lobby expansion that visually connects the interior with the surrounding cityscape.

Christopher Glass & Aluminum handled the installation of the custom VS1-G200 structural glass system, which included full-height, unspliced fins and a hot-bent 5’ x 25’ curved corner panel with a 6.5’ radius—echoing the aesthetic of the nearby Apple Store.

To safely lift and position these massive glass units during night-time installation, Wood’s Powr-Grip supplied its PRT48 vacuum lifter through authorized dealer Great Lakes Lifting. The specialized equipment provided the precision and reliability needed to maneuver the complex, heavy panels within the tight urban site.

This collaboration between Christopher Glass, Great Lakes Lifting, and Wood’s Powr-Grip was key to realizing the project’s ambitious glass design—delivering both technical excellence and architectural elegance.
